Kitchen Layout Help

We are planning to renovate our kitchen and thining about rearranging the layout.

Our kitchen is a 10x10 u shape with the stove on the back wall. One of the suggested layouts we received change the location of the stove. I love the full length counter along the back wall but the upper cabinets look kind of bland. Is this suggested layout ideal? Thoughts on how to improve it?

Do you have plan and elevation renderings?

These were the ones we received

I don't see any advantage of moving the range away from the sink.

Your designer didn't provide a 2d drawing? Can you post a sketch of the space with dimensions and label the surrounding rooms--I'm curious about what's happening over behind the fridge wall with the railing situation.

We have stairs behind the fridge wall. we are unable to take the wall down and open up the space. Not even sure why she included it… it not part of the kitchen.

for whatever reason the stove w a hood

on the exterior wall isnt going to happen...put it in the middle of the U...someone later can vent out with only one turn....as shown below. Interior wall is a bad idea. consider a hood.

A very simple and quick sketch of our house. The kitchen is a nook and unable to open it up any further.

I recommend keeping your range on the back wall. Don't worry about symmetry here, scoot the range within 12-16 inches of the corner cabinet on the right to maximize the width of an all-drawer base to the left of the range on that back wall.

Consider a proper exhaust hood if you can vent it outside to the left.

If your kitchen is dark, I'd consider not installing any upper cabinets on the sink wall. Put an all-drawer base cabinet to the left of the dishwasher for flatware and dishes storage. The kitchen is small enough that the dishwasher will easily be unloaded to cabinets to the left of the fridge as well.

Put the range in the U. Cooking involves lots of back and forth from stove to sink, and as pictured it's quite far and you'll constantly be carrying hot/drippy/heavy things across the floor. There's also now no landing space next to the fridge. Moving it also lets you fix the following: Ditch the two blind corners in the uppers and put in corner cabs. Both of your lower corners currently appear to be dead space, when they could be corner pull-outs. Not layout related: either do a counter-depth fridge or get the fridge cabinet built out to the proper depth.

The range is better where it is now, on the back wall. Either eliminate the upper cabinets above and install a dramatic hood which will be the visual focal point, or, as someone else suggested, eliminate the cabinets on the sink wall either side of the window for much more light and spaciousness. Have your designer create both designs so you can compare functionality and aesthetics.

If the colorations are accurate, I see a bland kitchen with no color…no zing! How about a pretty tile backsplash over a lighter-toned counter? Will there be under-cabinet lighting and more than one ceiling fixture? I like to have Persian-style rugs in my kitchen….anywhere I stand while prepping ingredients or washing pots in the sink. Can you add a glass-framed painting and colored kitchen towels and potholders?
