Good point 41 North. What is one persons weed might be another persons rare treasure. Sometimes folks have plants that are rare to them because they are heirlooms. Like what might be a common houseplant becomes rare when it's been in the family for several generations or because the plant is part of a family that has been shared.

Sometimes houseplants can be rare to someone because they can grow it. If they aren't good at growing or struggle to grow a particular plant, success can be rare.

Hopefully nobody thinks any of my plants are rare. People are losing their minds lately over allegedly rare plants.

While many plants that were considered "rare" prior to the pandemic are becoming more widely available, the good news for collectors is that there are always new discoveries or hybrids to get our interest up.

One I am currently seeking is a pothos hybrid that was created by University of Florida. It has been released only in a limited fashion. So therefore still "rare". I'd love to find one.
