Having only a rain head would drive me insane! I don't wash my hair every time i shower, with a rain head that would be a huge issue.

I have a rain head and a hand held/on a stationary, wall mounted bar. Personally, I hardly ever use the rain head, for a couple of reasons: by the time the water hits me, it is not as hot as I'd like, and it doesn't hit me with as much water pressure as I prefer. I use my wall mounted shower head as both stationary and as hand held almost exclusively...I love it. The rain head can be 'soothing' like a gentle rain, but I seldom want a lukewarm soft rain to wash my hair. I love the invigorating spray from my wall mounted shower head. Personal preference. When we redid our other bathroom, we opted to not put in the ceiling mounted rain head.

A handheld is also useful when cleaning the shower stall. I can't imagine having a shower without one.

Not sufficient. But if the shower space is limited, or you have had a hand shower, that's OK.

Get a nice long arm on the wall for reach, buy a Speakman shower head, a nice hand held/diverter as well, (clipped to the wall) , and adjust water force/spray at will.

You're too caught up in the look of the shower head seen through glass. A week after the bath is complete? You will wish you had a decent shower each morning : )

Rain heads are like pot fillers in the kitchen. Cute.........and rarely if ever necessary or a great idea in a finished result. Should woulda.........coulda.

I love the ceiling mounted rain shower and use it almost exclusively, but not so for the mrs. As others have said, you need something else.

Every time I am in a hotel ( I travel a lot for work and pleasure) and there is only a rain shower it makes me mad. I do not want to get my hair wet every time I shower and have to do contortions to try to keep it dry. Having both is much better.

You have to decide. My last three houses I've had only rain heads in my shower with a handheld mainly for cleaning. Obviously some people would hate that

Correct! My own ancient shower head shall go with me. The diverter blew out of it, it's so old ! It is..............like an elephant wash for the zoo. You could hurt yourself with the force of the water. : )

I ADORE it. Made loooong before any type of restrictions per gal or anything else.

There is nothing you could buy today, to even come close. Not even a Speakman......I mean .....nuthin.

My sister nicknamed it "elephant wash" , Wants it willed to her.

It's a matter of physics--the wider the shower head, the more the water is spread out, so the lower the pressure. And with the restrictions on flow, rain heads make it worse. And having it on the ceiling also reduces the pressure since it's farther away.

Why can't you have a regular shower head on the wall?

IMO I love my rain head but I always mix them with a handheld on the wall not anothe rain head.
