I want to know too. I read something saying Debbie Fischer was getting into another unspecified interest. She sold great plants.

The closing of Silver Star AND Joy Creek means we have lost a couple of very fine west coast clematis nurseries this past year. 😞

Hate to hear this. So many good rose nurseries closed too. Now, in addition to Brushwood and Garden Crossings, where are the best places to buy clematis?

I like Donahues ...they have small plants with good roots for the size pot. I pot them up and they usually do well. Digging Dog sent me two good plants of Victoria, which I couldn't find anywhere else. Shipping across country was high but plant prices were pretty good. I have ordered a lot of good plants from Brushwood. Have not heard of Garden Crossings. I have received great plants with the biggest roots from Hummingbird Farm in ME. I think Dan at Brushwood may have heard why Debbie closed her business. Apparently they are friends . He named a clematis after her.

Hirt's has a number of clematis plants but I did receive one mislabelled plant from them. Prices are good. I bought Beautiful Bride from Springhill and it has done well.

Another suggestion for well grown clematis is Hummingbird Farm in Maine.

I had heard that Debbie of Silver Star had health issues. I was sorry to see it close.

Sad that Debbie closed, I visited in person a couple of times and her display garden was spectacular as was the drive to get there. Nothing but love for Silver Star Vinery. : (

I came here because I couldn't remember the name of her nursery and I wanted to order some clematis. She sent me some lovely Clematis in past years. She is the nicest person to do business with, and I am sad she closed! I hope she is doing well.
