Monarda bradburiana: lucky you!! I recently read about this variety, but could not find a seller in Canada. I will try to get seeds next year, all the space under my grow lights is spoken for.

rob333, I grow two types of Callirhoe (involucrata and bushii), but I’m not familiar with digitata. They are a great group of plants!

All I have purchased so far are starts for my pots and barrels and baskets and a bit more milkweed. It's way too early to plant anything in the ground and my indoor holding/overwintering areas are packed, so having to pot up and hold more new stuff means it must be something worth it in order to justify the space.

I have a new raised bed this year and have brought all of my whisky barrels up closer to the house to set around the patio where I can more easily get to them with the hose. I have had so many evenings of having to drag a hose 200 feet purely to hit my barrels of annuals that I had scattered around the landscape- that's over, I want all the containers closer this year.

The starts so far are caladiums, elephant ears, cannas, mandevilla, torenia, bananas, dahlias, coleus, sunpatiens, various milkweeds, and a few varieties of clematis- all the things I want to get a good head start on.

I am into tropicals mostly these days, so been ordering more bananas.

I'm waiting for a DA "Desdemona" rose and a mulberry tree to arrive. That's it for the plant orders other than seed. I think I'm going to order a couple trollius "Pritchard's Variety" because whatever the one is I have doesn't look like "Golden Queen" and whatever it is I like it much much better than GQ, hoping Pritchard's might be it.

On my list to pick up locally is a couple pulsatilla - one of my favorite spring bloomers, have the perfect spot for a couple more where I'll be able to see them out the window. Too early for that, though -- stuff won't start showing up on the benches until mid to late April (at the good nurseries, anyway).

ETA: Oh, I did order a heat mat for my seed cart, too, will use that for cuttings and starting elephant ear bulbs.

mxk3 z5b_MI - where did you order your mulberry from? I've tried all sorts of propagation methods, but none have been successful. I ordered a few years ago, but lost them over their first winter (may have been my fault due to lack of proper care during the summer). But I'd LOVE to have a fruiting mulberry!

Edited to add that my only "order" so far has been a load of wood chips for the back paths and a new wheelbarrow to haul them out back (old one was super old and small). Chips were from the neighbor's tree that came down in last week's snow.

I ordered six or seven lilies from The Lily Garden and Big Brother lily from Michigan Bulb. the Big Brother order already arrived and it looks good...they're an ok size and healthy looking.

I ordered four clematis from Donahue's....The President, Multi Blue, Cardinal Wysynski, and Elsa Spath. I ordered three clems from Brushwood... Margaret Hunt, Veronica's Choice, and Natacha. Ordered two clems from Hummingbird Farm....Romantika and Minuet. Got a bare root bag of HF Young at Walmart which I could see was doing well in the bag and it is doing well potted up. Got dahlias , potatoes, a striped leaved canna in bags. Have a lot of seedlings coming along, most of which I started too early. Some of my rose seedlings are about to bloom. I'm hauling them in and out of the house most days.

Only seed potatoes so far. I tend to buy plants from plant fairs, on the fly, although I did buy a 'Silver Anniversary' buddleja and a white geranium nodosum 'Silverwood' last year. I have never really moved on from seed sowing, where named varieties tend to be less abundant. (apart from annuals). I know the names of my roses, but nothing else in the garden (apart from the species/genus name).

I have gone a little wild this year--Digging Dog, US Perennials and my usual go-to, Bluestone. The problem with Bluestone is that there's nothing really unusual there. Otherwise, I have been very satisfied with them. Digging Dog--I had to order (HAD to!!!) because when I was in Scotland last year, I fell in love with a plant called 'Hooker's inula' that I couldn't find anywhere else. So, I had to make the order worth my while, considering the shipping charges...I also was swayed by the Monarda bradburiana. Also ordered a few different Persicaria and Culver's Root - 'Fascination.'

I had to Google ’Hooker’s inula.’ It looks wonderful. I agree wiyh you regarding Bluestone. Nothing really unusual there, but something to be said for tried and true. They carry some varieties that are getting hard to find at local nurseries which are always trying to stock the next great thing.

I think on one of the other threads I mentioned that this season I was looking forward to more decluttering as opposed to buying. Well, of course I go watch some YouTube video where they are talking about a new variety of elephant ears, and I say to myself, “Self, I think I must have that.” Which begins the look at my main Canadian tropical mail order supplier, whose prices have gone up significantly since the pandemic, and when I had originally taken a look earlier this year, I was feeling more conservative and thought I really didn't need any more tropicals especially with the increased pricing. However, upon reviewing his listings, surprise, there are still some things listed at pre-pandemic prices (like $15 vs double that). So I think to myself, “Self, it may be a time to order a whole bunch of stuff from this place in the next bit.” It truly is a slippery slope.
