I'm looking at these lists thinking that it is a real shame that Ducher seems to be one of the best roses for my area, judging by images of it growing spotless and bushy in Arkansas and Louisiana -- but unfortunately it seems to be very susceptible to RRD (which we have a lot of). Oh well.

You're welcome! I'm glad y'all are finding value in the lists. I wanted to like Ducher but it was ADDICTED to mildew in every garden in which I tried it, so it's long gone.

We don't have RRD in Europe (knock on wood!) but I am very interested in the research about it. It's good to read that they were able to identify resistant varieties that offer options for people in high RRD areas and pathways for future breeding.

I do wish the paper had shown a bit more detail in the results for the resistant group, by listing those with low symptoms and those with no symptoms at all separately.

This seems to vindicate my own casual observations that some roses are more resistant than others. I am glad this research is being done and I'm so thankful that you shared it here.

The first step is to determine which genes help with resistance. Assuming it can be narrowed down to the presence of certain genes.

It will take a lot of DNA sequencing of individual varieties/species to ID which genes are common to the resistant varieties but NOT to the susceptible varieties. It's going to be a long, expensive slog.
