If you are using hand scraped oak in the master, I would add a rug and in closet add a matt, if needed. There are so many options with a rug, but carpeting goes wall to wall, so a personal choice I guess and if you go that route, suggest wool.

I don't like carpet in bedrooms because bedrooms is where people go when they are sick. We had an unfortunate accident on carpet when I, the primary house tender, was hospitalized and my children had to not only supervise my health care and paniced husband but also get the carpet cleaned and dry before I came home from the hospital. It would have been much easier if instead of carpet it had been a rug that could be simply removed for cleaning. Fortunately the illness turned out to be not serious, but the added stress on the family was unfortunate.
