Any systemic will stay in the fruit. You don’t want to do this if you want to eat the fruit.

Neem also has systemic properties when used as a soil drench rather than as a spray. And it is safe to eat any edible treated with neem.

If using some other form of hort oil (a petroleum product) look for summer weight or ultra fine.

Ultrafine horticultural oil, as listed by gardengal48, is a fantastic product. I have used it for years. It controls thrips,, spider mites, aphids, white fly eggs, powdery mildew, citrus sooty mold etc. etc etc.

I had used some generic neem oil I found at a local big box store and struggled with spider mites and mealy bugs for a year. I then picked up some cold pressed neem oil with azadirachtin, which is the systemic portion of neem when used as a natural pesticide, and have had excellent success with it since.

Make sure you spray your plants before you bring them in for the winter. Start a few weeks before. First use a forceful spray of water all over the plant. Then once that dries, spray leaves tops and undersides, stems, etc with horticultural oil. After a week, repeat. This should really keep pest populations down in winter. Also, make sure you don't have an ant population in the soil.

Bugs coming inside in the autumn with house plants that have spent the summer outdoors is one of the reasons it can be best to just keep the involved plants in the house throughout the year.

 I  agree  but that doesn't  mean I have to let them get out of control
