Rain garden spot selection

Im excited to start my journey with my rain garden. i think the front of my house will work well. i placed a stick 13 ft from my basement wall. the runoff from that half of the roof 574 sq ft will provide water. i have not had any serious basement water issues, but i have notices the soil is eroding from water at that corner of the house.

i do have to be mindful of the height of the plants so the adjacent alley can see oncoming traffic, so no plants that are extremely tall (more than 3.5 ft).

im estimating a rain garden approximately 115 sq ft. im hoping to use the rest of the yard for a garden as well so i no longer have to mow.

im still working to complete my water test.
