Room for a Side Table?

last modified: 3 years ago

I'm thinking about adding a side table here, but not sure if it would be too cramped for the space. Thoughts?

This is the table I'm considering:

    I like the table!

It’s really hard to say not being there in person … do you have anything in your house a similar size that you could put there for a few days to see? Another table, a box, a chair, or even tape it off and pretend something is there.

My first impression is that it could work, but again hard to tell.

I think it could work next to the sofa. Perhaps on left of chair or if you pulled the sectional away from the window a bit, then this table would be convenient.

I think it might be too large and maybe round is not best by the sofa side.

I don’t think it’s too large at 20” diameter & I do agree it would be nice closer to the chair than sofa. It’s a nice pairing with the coffee table. Would be pretty easy to make a mockup of size 20” & put in place to see how traffic flows around it. Which color are you thinking? Both work in your space but I’m leaning towards ’cloud’ bc of the white coffee table top. Your room arrangement use of three main colors is really nice.

You have enough going on in that area. It really would be too much.

The whole side of that room feels very claustrophobic to me so I would say no, however, it seems really utilitarian to me to be able to put a drink there while you are watching TV. I'd declutter and then put a mock up something there for a few days to see how it feels - a box or stool or something.

    Lovely space.

There is absolutely room for something there. And yes you need a spot to put a coffee cup.

I would prefer a rectangle rather than round, but if you measured and love it, order it.

If you are near West Elm, you can return it save on shipping back. I'm assuming they won't cover returns.

I'm not sure what Kendra means by decluttering.

For me, maybe the rug could be larger and the sofa moved out a bit.

Beautiful home and nice choice of table. It would be tight but I agree it would be great to offer an extra resting surface on the end of the sofa. Your instinct of putting there something round and with a white surface to mirror the coffee table is right...my advice is to go a step further and select something smaller with a more flexible footprint something like this that can be pushed in and even pushed next to the chair if someone sits there instead

If you go this route make sure you check the height of the table against the sofa arm to make sure its not lower, though this look would work too😘

Of course as per @jackowskib above the smaller table can work though I would choose the white marble with walnut

Another reason why I would choose any of the 2 tables above: you will not introduce the green glass as a new material as your original table would do. Hope this helps with your thought process.
