Sorry but the drawing is not helpful since I do not see the house in relation to the pool. I have never had anyone think the decking is too big. I am surprised that you had permission to build a pool 5' from a fence . Where I live there iare rules about pool placement and also the pool itself has to be fenced too. How much bigger is the area than the original plan? Were you not there when the hole was dug? At least name all the itmes on the drawing too, like those series of boxes. I also see very narrow walkways around parts of the pool. I hve one 4' walkway and I find it very narrow so I pu tplanters there so no one uses it .

Since there is no information on the drawing and the pics aren't conclusive, one can only assume changes in height, materials, south, what you have for a design/hardscape/softscape, etc. But just to clarify, in RED is where the pool was supposed to go - 4' to the right and 3'-4" up? If nothing else, IMO your neighbor's house is hideously affecting the enjoyment of your property, and I would rather look at a wall of tall privacy evergreens than that red blank out-of-scale behemoth.

Yes your adds on the drawing are correct- and since our lot is on a corner that red monstrosity is a sad fact of our reality.

We were there when the hole was dug, but we were not informed of the changes to the placement. The original patio area on the far right was supposed to be 12ft. There are steps from the dining area up to the pool deck area- our patio doors open to this space. There are stepping stones lining the left side of the pool to create a modern look.

You seemed to have paused for 4' additional patio - how much does that affect your initial design, why was the pool location changed (underground shelf/boulder, incompetence, miscommunication, etc), how much plumbing is done, your contract, etc to decide if you should pursue moving it?

For a design much more info would be needed for some help catered to you rather than what a commenter would like to see for themselves. Just some initial things that crossed my mind: Do you have an area at the north end of this patio (to clear an unknown height of house) designated for sun soaking on the patio? Is it just comfy seating? Fire pit? Bar/lounge? Pergola? How do you transition along the side of house to the "Dining" patio then to the "pool" patio? Looks like could be 2 steps down? Is the pool company doing the greater yard design and installing those improvements too? Do you have a separate landscape architect, or at least a staff landscape designer at the supply house or somewhere you are already or can utilize?

Great questions- this is largely an issue of miscommunication, the pool location was changed because there happened to be an existing pool buried underground and they would’ve had to cut out the old shallow end. However, we were not consulted on whether or not we would even consider paying for that (we would have). With this new design or green space on the opposite end is compromised as well as the access point from the dining area to the main pool deck.. no plumbing has been done. The shell is just sitting in the ground. We intended to just have lounge chairs, and perhaps a small sectional on the pool deck, maybe a small pergola. From our patio doors, you would step out onto the dining area and to access the pool dec there would be two stairs. The landscape company is separate from the pool builder, he is the one that has modified the design.

Since you are working with a landscaping company too I would get them tor draw plans with the new layout so you can wrap your mind around it. I would also ask about what fast growing plants/shrubs/ something can go up by the red house that won’t interfere with the pool etc. otherwise I think it will all come together just fine!

You don't seem to be happy with were it got placed, so meet asap with the pool company and have them do the necessary work to match the plans, even with added work/cost. You don't want to feel regret/anger every time you look out your window!
