Your limb is fine.

The term is 'watersprout'. Watersprouts are just vigorous shoots, often very thorny, that grow nearly straight up from older wood such as the trunk or major scaffold branches. They will eventually produce fruit, so there's really no need to remove them if you only have a few, unless they fill inside the canopy and prevent air movement.

What you are showing doesn't seem to technically fit that definition. But regardless, I'd just trim that very vigorous branch back a foot or so to balance out the shape of the tree. But you don't have to. It would probably flower and fruit next season.

no major pruning on a recently transplanted tree.. upwards of 3 years..

every leaf is an energy producing leaf.. we dont cut 20 or 30 percent of them off because we dont like the branch..

sooo.. put down the pruning saw.. and step away from the tree ..

ps: insure the root flare is above ground... and while you are there.. add 3 to 4 inches of a good mulch ... but not on the trunk ... you might want to increase that ring around the tree to hold that much mulch ...
