I've used a variety of moss poles over the past few years. I dislike the coco coir ones for a few reasons: one, the pole they are on is wood and rots quickly; two, the cococoir is so tight that the aerial roots don't really grow into it.

I made some of my own moss poles. Use one of those green-plastic covered plant stakes or a pvc pipe, gutter mesh (it's the perfect width, inexpensive and can be cut to any length), and some zip ties.

The one issue I have with moss poles is they just don't seem to be very steady/sturdy especially for supporting a large monstera. You may want to look into a trellis or a couple of stakes instead.

If you need more ideas, Etsy has tons of ready-made moss poles. You don't have to buy there but you can get some good ideas if you want to try to make your own or buy elsewhere.

Kyra, I like the two poles on the right. Do you find you have a difficult time keeping them moist? Mine used to dry out very quickly. Here's what I did to solve that issue. Using your example on the left, with the single white PVC pole. I drilled a lot of tiny holes in the pipe randomly along it's length. I sealed the bottom too. Now when the pole begins to dry, always from the top down, I fill the pole with water and it slowly weaps out of the holes and wets the moss pretty uniformly. It's a lot easer this way rather than spilling it down the length. All that being said, I am going to use your idea of the two garden stakes in a pole for some of my philodendrums. WOW! I learned something already this morning. My day is complete now!
