I'm no expert by a long shot so I'm not going to be much help to you. I'm a matchy matchy kind of decorator that most Houzzers don't like :-)

What I've seen in my many years on this planet is that if you paint the surround and shelves white a darker shade of your favourite colour on the walls would look fabulous. Darker green?

What I personally would do is paint the walls a similar colour as your sofa and loveseat, maybe a shade or two lighter. The white would really stand out and look crisp.

What I'm concerned with is how your black TV frame and the fireplace insert would look among the white.

How about painting the surround and shelves black? Maybe paint the walls the light brown (cappuccino?) and change the rug to something larger with similar colours as you have in this rug only with a bold geometric pattern. I'd also put a much large picture above the sofa with a black frame.

Yes! I think that would suite ME just fine. But, it's you that has to live with it and love it, not me. Good luck with this. Soon more experienced and knowledgeable Houzzers will come along and help you out with REAL advice.

By the way, I love that you don't have lots of clutter. Tasteful.
