Not sure that the size is the issue, but that the ottoman is too puffy/frilly to go with the chairs. The rectangular tray also looks odd/wrong on that ottoman. Round tray would look more balanced.

I'm not sure why you would have an ottoman place like that with those chairs. I think of them as being used to put up your feet, but the placement, even of this large one would not work for that. I'd probably get a smaller one for use with one of the chairs, or two if you want one usable with both chairs at the same time. Since you have that nice little table between them, it doesn't seem as if you need it for a table either.

I think not a size but style attracts eyes, may be color that not coordinate with anything in room.

Ok thanks. I would definitely reupholster with a different fabric, maybe lose the ruffle. These chairs are very comfy and used daily as a reading area. A new lighter wall color could be fun too. Thanks!

I may remove the book tray also. I can only read one book at a time!

fYI: I just recently removed the 2 floral chairs that were coordinated with this ottoman due to lack of comfort.

It’s too tall , and it’s overpowering chairs size- wise. The height doesn’t look right for feet, unless you say that 2 people together find it very uncomfortable. If that is ottoman decor on top, then it also doesn’t look useful. I get it about combining what I have and not discarding useful furniture. But I think your impression is on target, the proportions are off.

I think if the chairs are comfortable, I would invest or work toward making that an inviting seating area, which it does not look like now.

Can you use the ottoman somewhere else? Also without ruffle, unless that ruins the underlying fabric.

Definitely shorter ottoman. That looks like it would be uncomfortable to use. And IMO you need a place for a person to set their phone or a drink or something. The table looks too crowded to be useful.
