Kitchen layout input

Greetings everyone. My wife and I just purchased a new home and are in the planning stages of a remodel before we move in. The home is a split level that was built in 1966. We are removing the wall between the kitchen and living room, so we have to reconfigure the whole kitchen. I've sketched out the initial take on the new layout. The first image is just the kitchen and the second one is the entire main floor kitchen/living space.

Assuming my chicken scratch is legible, I'd love to hear some input on the layout. I've dug through this forum and read the layout faq pages, so I really tried to incorporate the ideas I've read here. If I completely missed the mark please let me know. TIA!

I never like kitchns open to LRS so really think about that. I actually rarely suggest major renovations to house you have not lived in . House have a way of functioning often not the way you planned so that is why we often suggest you live there for a min. of 3-6 months befroe removing walls etc. The drawings need to be to scale on graph paper showing every window doorway, where the doorways lead and every measurement clearly marked then posted here in a comment do not ever start another post on this space

Understand the risk of renovating right away, but we weighed all our options and decided to move forward with the project now. I know not everyone likes kitchens open to living room, but that was really my main objective in a new home. I will try to get better floor plans with more measurements. What I was really looking for right now is thoughts on the workflow based on layout of island, sinks, and appliances. If this drawing isn't sufficient to determine that I understand.

    Dear Molly,

You did a great job with the kitchen layout!

However I’d put some extra work to give the whole floor a cohesive look.

If you could please draw the room walls -including doorways and windows- with dimensions I would gladly help you making sure it all make sense.
If you have the dimensions of the sectional it would help as well.

Are you planning to have a dinner table -or just the shown island? Dimensions?
May I ask how many people will live/dine here?

    Thanks
    Anna

my first thought would be to swap the refrig with the wall oven.

Just my personal way ti use the space.

I love the open concept. Assuming you will be proud of it, and keep it clutter free.

Thanks Anna! I forgot I have this floor plan for the existing layout. The measurements seem to be off in some areas, but it gives a general idea. I marked the wall we are removing in the middle. The couch is a Lovesac. The measurements are below, the 117" section will go under the windows.

We do plan to have a dining table where the one is pictured in this floor plan. That will be for when we have guests. It's just the two of us living there, when it's just us we'll eat at the island. The slider closest to the dining table will be widened to a 9 foot 3 panel door. The other slider will be covered by cabinets and there will be a 36" or 48" window over the sink.

Lyn, I hadn't considered swapping the wall oven and fridge, can you tell me more about that? I think I put the fridge over there to have it close to the sink, but now that I'm adding a prep sink maybe that will be close enough.

I'm meeting with the kitchen designer later and will hopefully get a floor plan with better measurements, and also some renderings.

Oh my gosh, thank you for following up with this! I’m awaiting updates renderings tonight. I’m not entirely tracking your comments, but I would love to hop on a call next week if that works. We are in vacation in Cabo this week :).
