Lonicera leaf arrangement is opposite/subopposite. Subopposite means the leaves are not spaced far enough apart to be considered alternate but neither are they perfectly opposite each other.

To me it looked a little beyond sub-opposite, and I've never seen a Lonicera like this one. Break a stem and see if it's hollow. The leaves look similar to L. maachii?

It looked opposite to me on my laptop. On my iPad it appears opposite/sub opposite.

It's possible it could be Lonicera. I'm surprised it hasn't bloomed.

It looks very young. Perhaps only germinated last year.

Btw I’m wondering if there is some Smilax in there as well as the rose.

It's not a very mature plant and seems to be in quite heavy shade. Maybe not surprising there is no sign of any flowering.

I have not noticed any flowering and its been there at least 4years.

all the bush honeysuckle i am seeing for my area, South Carolina, show leaves directly opposite each other.

uh, yes, i do have some smilax in there.

and blackberry vines, and ferns under the porch.

my azaleas are all going to be removed this year because they are looking shabby. they get way to much sun. no shade at all until late afternoon. going to refresh the planting in front of my house after they’re out.

Yep. Lonicera, for sure. If it's 4 years old I assume you’ve been cutting it back because it’s very small for that age. That would explain the lack of flowers.
