I know getting that roofing done is a huge relief for you, Nancy. Like many in our area we went with the metal roof when we had to replace years ago. Absolutely no regrets there! I have noticed many new builds of huge houses now have metal roofs.

Love seeing your peonies. The late freeze took all my buds so I did not see a single bloom this year. Your irises are always so pretty. Actually one I posted came from you-War Chief I think.

Nancy, I am glad your roofing is done. I was quite worried when we had ours redone last year, but we were really lucky.

Your peonies and iris are beautiful Nancy. I especially love to see peonies since they don't tend to do well here due to the heat. I'm not sure which one I like best as they are all lovely.

Kate, I thought about metal roofing but roofer had delivered his quoted roofing before i really looked into it. Been gone a lot but I had enought time before to have looked into it more. we debated on metal 7 yr ago but thought it was too expensive at that time. Glad you got the roof done and over with. Love the peonies and iris. I just planted peony tubers this spring so hopefully they will grow. Otherwise I'll just go to the nursery and buy a couple of plants LOL.

Julia, they will probably grow fine. I started out with cheap tubers from box stores. Took 3 years to bloom but they are huge plants now, despite a learning curve of how deep to plant them, etc. I don't think any ever died, except one that turns out was delicate anyway. One survived despite being sprayed by roundup accidentally. Oops!

A relief to have the roof done with still time enough for any damage to plants to heal.....You Peonies are so pretty. I tried growing one years ago, but the foliage by August when our heat was at its peak was horrible. With so little in ground space available I had to opt out for something else. Still, I can look at yours and dream............Maryl

I've pretty much given up on Iris. I've put most of them by the creek in the rocky area. They bloom a little but it is no more little than in a good place. I totally gave up on peonies. The rain destroys them and they look awful every year.

I know you are happy to have that roof repaired. Your blooms look great! I especially like the peonies. Is that Daughter of Stars among the irises? It has grown into a nice large clump here and is so pretty.

Brad, some iris grow like weeds and bloom reliably every year, even rebloom if they are rebloomers. Others are known for being slackards, only blooming every other year. I am working on getting rid of the lazy ones. And I do know what you mean about peonies. This year they have been lovely, the really heavy winds have been prior to blooms, and it has been cooler so they have lasted longer.

Debra, that is indeed Daughter of Stars, one of those vigorous ones and a great one for reblooming once it is established. And pretty to top it off. Maryl, foliage on some peonies are really nasty by August. All you can do is cut it off. A few varieties stay looking pretty good til frost though. I have never really seen a chart to list the ones that keep their nice foliage. I think Itohs seem to look good longer.

The coral peony looks like Coral Sunset. I do enjoy peonies, but yes, the weather can be a problem. Of course, we learned that with daylilies last year too. Blooming now is Shimane Otone Ma (Young Dancing Girl).
