Small Kitchen Lighting Help Needed

We are in the middle of a kitchen remodel and I need some help with lighting. I have a carpenter custom building cabinets and acting as the general contractor but we do not have a kitchen designer. Our kitchen is small - 10x14. At this point we are only planning under cabinet lighting and 4' can lights, the question is how many.

I've read that 4' can lights should be 3 feet apart so that is what I did - nothing in the center of the kitchen. Since the sink will have a light above it should i remove the can light right there? Should there be a can over the range even thought the hood has LED lights in it?

- Sink: It looks like there is an upper cabinet with an UCL. The UCL's are drawn as hardwired units. If so realize you will see the underside of the cabinet there (as it should be higher to give space for your forehead) and it's UCL. If continuing with a cabinet+UCL there, I'd still have a can light there.

- Probably need a can over the exterior door area.

- With the can by the door ^, then the cabinet section near it (2-30" cabs?) only needs 1 can.

- You should have a can(s) for the ref and flanking Pantry/oven (?) which will also help light the entry openings.

- If the exterior door is a back door entry then should probably have some 3-way switches.

- Before you finalize lighting, and green light the cabinetmaker, it might be wise to evaluate your Kitchen layout. There is a pinch point and what looks like a 24" entry opening. Custom cabinets seems an unnecessary expense.

- If this drawing is dictating electrical placement (as opposed to just for fun) then it needs to be reviewed.

you still need to light the whole room.

Yes, can lights every 3 ft. the light over laps each other for a wash of light, no hot spots.

+ ambient lighting. + task lighting.

put each group on seperate circuit.

Yes, you need lights over all the surfaces.

Yes, light over the range, even if the hood has a light.

you can never have too much lighting.

a 24" center fixture for a 10 x 14 room

FYI - the two doors in the lower left corner are both open doorways with no doors. The door in the upper right corner is to the basement - not currently used for entry but it's possible at some point in the future if we ever renovate the garage.

Yes, there is a pinch point near the doors in the lower left corner. My thought was this stack (not the very top cabinet) could be easily removed if needed - for example, if bringing in an appliance. So it would be secured to the wall but with screws taht could be removed if needed. And maybe I'll move the microwave elsewhere so the stack can be less wide.

I'm having custom cabinets built because my GC is a carpenter who builds cabinets. There are two walls where I want non-standard cabinet sizes to meet the small room requirements.
