Can you post a picture of your view? Neighbors all have a pool with no fence?

What do you want to see? Instead of thinking of this as a problem of how to block a view.. consider it an opportunity to create the view you want to see. Would you like to see a hedgerow, a stretch of various things growing and potentially providing your round interest, a blank clean stretch of fencing, other? Will you be happy with a fast solution, or in the long run be more satisified with a view that might take longer to grow? How much effort do you want to put into keeping up the view after you have it there? A fence is easier upkeep, hedges need trimming, various growths need maintenance, ect.

A lot of questions I know. I can understand the frustration of wanting to no longer see the current view. But some consideration now might bring you something to enjoy for another 20 years.

If you put in something that is more lattice-like, plant shrubs in front and over time they will grow in to create more privacy.

Check your local code to see how high you're allowed to have a fence. Install a wood fence across the back. We had a lot of wood fence around our property at our last house. When we replaced it (because what the previous owners had installed was old) we put in a type that had lattice on the top foot (or two) to give it some interest. My point being it doesn't have to just be boring wood with no relief. Then gradually work to landscape your side of it so you're not looking at a wood fence everywhere. To your point, it takes a long time for plantings to mature, and it would be expensive to plant 225 feet at the same time, but you can build it up over time. If you're going to be in that house another 20+ years it will be worth it.

Where I live the fence between properties can be very high but not at the front of the house where traffic can be visibly affected. I think do the lattice and plant some trees the lattice will do its job now and the trees later you could even plant some climbers to grow on the lattice or espalier some fruit rees and enjoy the view and the fruit.

might be your neighbors circumstances. Do they need help removing there junk? I don't have a lot of money to spare and have pressure treated lumber in my yard in piles from a hurricane that came through. I can't take them to the curb or load them into a truck because of physical limitations I can't afford paying someone to haul them off because of the cost. I would love to get those eyesores out of my yard. Have you looked at your neighbors circumstances and offered to help? I've asked for help people say they will but never follow through.
