Finally!! Some decent blooms!

The late freeze impacted so many things in the garden. No peaches, no peonies, no azalea blooms. But I had no idea how much impact it would have on early daylily blooms. Frozen scapes and buds have produced wonky blooms and blooms deep in foliage. Finally this week some decent blooms have emerged!

Siloam Double Classic

Early Shift-blooming low in foliage

Free Wheelin’-blooming low

Winged Migration

Jinxy was really hit hard despite being close to the house. only two scapes remained and few buds

Bee pollen bloom-splotchy in rain

Heavenly Dark Matter-you can see wonky bloom in background

Willamette Mist

Malachite Prism-has few buds and color is muted this year

Song Writer-bloomed in foliage but color is good

You do have a lot. I am well ahead of last year. I especially like Down Home as it is a really pretty color. Free Wheeling always catches my eye, and I really like Bee Pollen; it is such a rich color and the rain just messes them up as well as making thm bloom, doesn't it?

Kay, I have had blooms for two weeks-early for me as well-but they have mostly been awful. I did edit Down Home is Song Writer. It is a pretty color.

Sad to see short scapes, Kate……..that was a problem here last season. Still some lovely ones and better to come! no scapes here…will be awhile.

Song Writer is a pretty one, and Bee Pollen is a nice dark purple. Hopefully it will clear up for you. I've just now started to get a few scapes, but I don't think they will be much different then usual. I know my lone Iris, Iris Pallida (with the variegated foliage), had blasted buds last time I looked, so fingers crossed on the daylilies..............Maryl

Pretty blooms and I'm sure as your season progresses things will improve. Color looks good on all of them even if they have short scapes. Getting rain here today so I get a day off from outdoor work.. No scapes showing here yet as far as I can tell. Looking forward to seeing more bloom pics.

Thanks all. I am sure the season will improve as the mids begin blooming. I think all the earlies were impacted as I am seeing low bud count and fewer than normal scapes on all of them.

I am hopeful my bee pollen blooms improve to show more of the edging it usually has. The bees made one of my favorite plants!!!

The blooms look good even if they are on short scapes. I love the pattern on Jinxy, and Willamette Mist looks so perfect. I always like your bee pollen purple and the color on Song Writer is one of my favorites. With rain at the end of the week, I'm seeing scapes all over the garden now. I should have some blooms by the end of the month.

What a lot of blooms you have, and they look so good. We have been rather cooler than normal, and drier, but now that we are getting rain and temps are heating up, I am seeing scapes all over the place. My iris were really affected by the winter, or late freeze. I had many that did not bloom this year. Did not put on nearly the show they usually do. I had some peonies that did not bloom either, but can't really explain them. They were later blooming ones that did not get hit by later freeze at all. Plants look great. Early bloomers all bloomed. It was the yellow varieties that did not bloom, odd.
