Best sealer for Slate tile floor?

We are having grey slate tiles installed in our foyer and hall. I could not get black, which is what I wanted. So, I have 2 questions:

1) What is the best sealer for slate tile floor?

2) I want the tiles to be black, not grey, will a color-enhancing sealer darken them enough to look black? If not, has anyone stained their slate before sealing it?

PS: Before anyone says to "hire a professional," we currently live in a VERY rural area. I went to every flooring store within a 1.5 hr drive, none carried slate nor were willing to order it. I had to order the slate and have it shipped to my home. I feel fairly confident in the tile layer I have hired, but do want to select the best sealer, so that is why I am looking for advice.

Not sure how will get grey slate to look black, sealer or no sealer.
