Just that kind of year, Kelly. For example, my blackberry crop was a failure this year, too, for the first time ever, due to a very warm March that promoted Suzuki fruit flies to the nth degree, and, even worse, the Gravenstein apple crop in Sonoma County yielded only 3% of its typical average because of that same weather, so no Gravs this year for the first time in my long lifetime. I am going to miss those apple pies (I usually buy a 40 lb box, which will keep through January if carefully stored in the fridge). The rose is basically healthy, just not sightly right now, and hopefully next year will be better!

Yikes! I’ve never heard of those. We have Japanese beetles that are destroying my fruit and roses here. You have such a positive attitude. I think the weather has been off everywhere. My tomatoes are just starting to produce but the fruit and the plants are giant! I’m hoping the freezes will hold off awhile yet.
