Kitchen accent update

last modified: 3 years ago

For anyone who was curious, the painted floor cloth arrived the other day. The border is the exact color of the tile backsplash behind the stove (I actually sent two tiles to the artist). It is 3’x5’ and sealed for years of wear (I have a 20-year old one in my cottage that is still going strong).

It is exactly what I wanted – – a bit of whimsy and farmhouse. I think it plays nicely in my kitchen.

Very sweet without being twee - I think it hits that whimsy/farmhouse mark. And appears pup approves from a distance!

What a transformation. Your space looks so bright and cheery and comfortable. And the buffet/hutch is absolutely perfect in the space.

That is terrific. Can you explain a bit more? Who does these and that make them custom?

Awww, thanks, you guys. I really do love everything about my kitchen. What a change from the old version!

Eld, here is the link for the artist on Etsy who makes the rugs. I didn't see exactly what I had in mind so I worked with her to create the look that I wanted. It is a mash up of several different rugs that she has made. It is basically canvas that has been primed and painted and then hemmed. Then it is sealed several times to make it impervious to spills and dirt. (Well, that's the plan at least. I'll check back after several years.) Mine is 3x5 and cost $200 including shipping. It took about six weeks to arrive. The artist reached out to me several times during the process to make sure we had the same vision in mind. I am very pleased with her work.

No fair. I've been searching for the same size floor cloth or vinyl floor mat for a month or two. Yours is beautiful!!

Mine, if I ever find what I like, will go in the same area as yours, that's where our dogs eat their breakfast then lick the floor. :)

This will work well. When you move to Mtn's place, I should have my immigration papers in order so I can move right in to yours.

I've always wanted a kitchen floor like that.

The rug reminds me of an apron from the 1940s that I used to have. The shades of red and green are especially nice.

It looks both vintage and fresh, French and American, and altogether charming!

    Sweet!

That is the perfect addition to your kitchen and the entire room looks warm and welcoming. You must be so pleased with the changes you have made.

I looked at the seller's web site and was interested in the many photos posted by buyers. Quite a few had placed tables and chairs on the floor cloths. i wonder if the weight of the table or sliding the chairs in and out might damage the rug.

I have that same kitchen floor in a house. Love it!
