Catastrophe Waitress is not really tall in the better years and it looks great. So glad Wild cherry wine is doing well. Kate's Smile looks great to9o. Nice post. Oh yes, Rumba Numba is tall here, but like quite a few, very short on buds.

I'm sure it would be. It is A very striking plant! I have many plants that have far fewer blooms than usual and some that are much shorter; others seem unaffected, so figure. I do thisnk my season will be shorter than usual although I am having some re-bloom. You have Geometric Wizard don't you? It was one of my first to bloom,has bloomed in clumps ever since, and has put up yet another couple of re-bloom scapes. One winner.anyway.

What a shame the red bugs got so many of your favorites in that bed! What a lot of eye candy you posted today. I think Pansy Faced Charmer may be my top favorite. I love that color combo with the applique throat! Rachelle Agin is always a pretty pink, and John Bassili caught my eye. The first two dlumps are wonderful!

So mant lovely blooms Kate! Did the weather have anything to do withthose red bugs? So sorry to hear sbout the devastation. I love seeing Simplicity in Motion….I added it last season and am looking froward to seeing it here. Pansy Face caught my eye today, what a great edge.

Kay, I will keep an eye on Geometric Wizard for rebloom! It is still blooming now. I noticed Thomas Tew has put up a rebloom scape-maybe it felt sorry for me!

Debra, that bed faces the road so that is more of a color display in spring. I planted tons of zinnias in front to give some color there. I think Pansy Face Charmer may become a favorite if it flourishes

Sherry, I don’t know what caused such an infestation this year. And the damage is done before you can blink. Of course, add that to the freeze damage and that poor bed was doomed. I do like Simplicity in Motion and think you will as well! It always has lots of buds and give splendid displays.

Julia, it is Lopidea. It pierces the buds and they turn brown and drop off. If they are large buds they bloom with a deformed bloom. Here is a picture from this year.

What a lot of beautiful group of blooms. Love Green Rainbow, but especially Pansy Face Charmer. Reminds me a bit of Terry Lyninger which I love. Terry is so short though with many blooms in the foliage. I will be looking for something to replace it with, is PFC taller?

Beastly bugs, I sure hope they don't move my way. I though I saw some one year, I sprayed, but never saw any damage from them. Probably something else entirely, but I was not taking changes after that terrible year you had with them.

A very interesting post. Your picture of John Basilli is appealing, but much different from those posted on NGA, where eye is more scarlet, and base petal is more orange. Low bloom on Catastrophe is ominous.

Nancy, Pansy Face Charmer was a bonus plant. It is a Maryott which could mean not a good garden plant for me-we shall see! And it is only registered at 22 inches so not very tall.

Mantis, yes and that is what I see on John Basilli as well. I took that photo later in the day after some heat had been on it. Although I must admit I did not quite capture the darker color I saw even then.
