Rose ID - Rose with long leaves

Hello,

I am visiting family in Montreal and am always on the lookout for old and/or once blooming roses. I recently saw this pink rose (or at least what I believe is a rose) with long, supple leaves (almost fern-like) and short thorns toward the bottom of the plant. I believe it is once-blooming.

Smells heavenly, was over 9 ft tall, and I saw a similar shrub growing out of a hedge while out on a walk yesterday. I realize the photos are not optimal (will try to take some more today). Thank you in advance for your help!

Therese Bugnet. Its a repeat bloomer, but later bloom cycles are sparse compared to the first flush. Its a nice rose.

@ SamuellaZ6a congratulations! That's a good call on a great rose! Hopefully this may make future identifications a bit easier. The growth at the bottom of the leaf mid rib is a "stipule". Roses, except for Hulthemia, which you will never encounter in Zone 6, all have stipules at the base of their foliage where it attaches to the cane. Stipules vary greatly in shape and size, but they are always present. Have a great visit!

@roseseek You are wonderful, thank you for taking the time to explain and show me! It is so kind of you. My husband and I were going back and forth on this (especially the stem we saw peeking out of an arborvitae hedge yesterday--he was convinced it couldn't be a rose due to how "cartoonish" the leaves looked). I will be on the lookout for stipules as I walk the neighborhoods here scouting for roses :)
