Friday's flowers

Here is a clump of Gryphon Carl Linnaeus. It shows no ill effects from the weather, but unfortunately, it's my least favorite Gryphon. The color is weak and the flowers are on the small side.

Unstoppable has made a huge clump but the scapes aren't as tall as they have been in the past.

That's all of the named varieties. Several more are blooming, but I either already showed a picture or they aren't picture worthy. Geometric Wizard, one of my favorites, has open several flowers, none of which were worth a photo. It's not a good cool morning opener. The color has not been good either.

The rest of the photos are seedlings. For the most part it was a eyed tet day.

This one is Buddy's Betsy X Heavenly Bengal Tiger. This seedling is three years old and got its blue ribbon today. The blue ribbon means it will be moved to the select bed.

This is Small World Fire in the Hole X Bucklebury Ferry. I was hoping with an edge all round the petals, but I didn't get it. It is a very staturated color. This is a first year bloom.

We continue to work with white/cream with red eyes. I am hoping for more intense red with a near white petal color and and edge all round the petals. It's not happening yet, but these are nice flowers.

Abilene X Cherry Pie a la Mode

Cherry Pe a la Mode X Rosie with a Ring--more of an edge on this one--petal color toward peach

Kiss of Paradise X (Remembered Kisses X Cherry Pie a la Mode--more yellow but a nice eye, though not red enough

This one is Shipwreck Cove X Empire of Dawn and Dusk.

I'll put a couple of dips in the comments. I promise--no stippled or brown ones.

We had several nice diploid seedlings blooming today. These are all first years.

This is O Positive X Ahoya. It is not a small bloom--maybe 4.5 inches.

This one was probably my favorite. It is Brer Rabbit's Baby X Out of Balance. Bob said that it had that smoky-grayed look early this morning, but about 11:30 it was just a nice medium purple. I love the shape on it. This is also not a small daylily, but it is a first year bloom.

Here's the sib to the previous one. It is a small flower but it's also on a very small plant.

I sort of like the look with the small sepals and big petals.

Well, I put the wrong title of this. These are Saturday's flowers. With both of us retired, I can't keep my days straight.

Is Buckleberry Ferrry as saturated as the seedling here? The O Positive seedling is very appealing in color and form (the midrib is a great contrast). You obviously are getting some satisfying seedlings, even if your early goals have been unfulfilled. The eye on the Kiss of P seedling looks quite red in the picture.

The O Positive seedling is very interesting-in color and look. I think I like the Shipwreck Cove seedling. The seedlings all look good although not meeting your standards and are certainly appealing!

Unstoppable looks good. I can see why Buddy's Betsy X Heavenly Bengal Tiger. got it Blue Ribbon today. Nice. I like Cherry Pe a la Mode X Rosie with a Ring- O Positive X Ahoya. I has a very different look aI like ti because it is very striking. I can see why you like Brer Rabbit's Baby X Out of Balance. too nice color.

Buddy's Betsy X Heavenly Bengal Tiger really caught my eye, looks like a winner. Nice seedlings all around!
