Friillaria species?

Not sure it's that particular one since the pods are not all held in a bunch at the top of the stem but grow staggered along it.

The lily seed pods taper down slimmer near their base. I don't think it's Lilium martagon. Another lily species perhaps? Fritillaria imperialis?

Pretty certain it is a Fritillaria. Not imperialis because that too has flowers in a bunch at the top of the stem.

Knowing a bit more about the location of the plant and whether it was wild or cultivated would help a a lot. As would more pix if possible.

It's definitely not L. martagon. I grow several hundred of them in the edge of my woodland, and I handle the pods every year in order to propagate the lilies from seed. As Jay mentioned, the lily seed pods taper at the bottom, whereas these pictured are flat on top and bottom. These look like fritillaria, many of which I also grow. I just can't pinpoint the species.

Fritillaria affinis would be the most common. They look like the affinis I find around here.
