Help With Countertop Thickness

Hi Everyone,
We are finalizing our kitchen remodel plans and I need to determine the height of the countertop so that the cabinetry maker can properly set the toekick height.
We have ordered the Miele 36" range and the lip on it is 4cm. The quartz purchased is 2cm and we will definitely do a built up mitered edge. I need help deciding on what the height of the countertop should be. 2cm looks too thin for us, so should it be 3cm, 3.5 cm, 4cm (1 1/4", or 1 1/2")?
Those of you who have 3 cm, does it feel too thin?

You have already stated that your counter material is 2 cm. That means you have either 2 cm, or 4 cm as your standard choices. Or a much thicker mitered buildup, with design problems to solve. You need to source 3 cm material for 3 cm counters.

Ouroboros, the countertop top is going to have a built up MITERED edge. The fabricator can create any height we specify. This is not a laminated edge where the glue two 2cm pieces together.

HU-20798147, thank you for your explanation. 2cm quartz plus 1/2" (1.25cm) plywood brings us to 3.25 cm. It appears it's possible to specify 1 1/4" (3.25 cm) and 1 1/2" (3.75 cm) based on quartz and plywood thickness. Is that correct?

I'm afraid it's you that isn't understanding how mitering works. It isn't practical, but you can certainly fabricate a 3cm edge on a 2cm deck. Underlayment can be cut to any size.
