Did you just buy an 80's time capsule? I love the wood, and trendwise it seems to be coming back for another round. Plus painting cabinets in a way that will last is a chore and a half. It's everything else that needs to change. Take out the wallpaper and the graphic tile backsplash and laminate countertop and replace the hinges and knobs and pulls.

A medium brown hardwood such as red oak is a solid choice everywhere except the wet areas like kitchen, baths, and laundry- wood floors do not handle soaking well. For those areas there are tile and LVP products that look like various woods. Natural-looking hardwoods have enduring appeal and are fairly trend-neutral. Resist the urge to greywash- grey is on its way out and natural wood tones are back, and floor revisions are a pain to do twice.

Cool paint colors can balance the brown of the wood in a refreshing way. Nothing should be brown unless it looks like wood. Avoid beige.

for a small L kitchen like this.....and you dont wish to enlarge? I would seriously get quotes to fully replace....Hardwood floors throughout should get attention with figuring out costs...if you're serious. It is worth it probably...... but will eat into budget...maybe do floor project then come back to kitchen after a little pause.
