I am home from Nashville where I attended the National Daylily Convention. I had such a great time! Three other friends who live near me went as well, so I knew them and others in our daylily club which hosted the event. Lovely gardens, and so much fun meeting some of the idolized hybridizers. Wish I could have met all of them, but I think some of them saw me coming and ran, LOL! Only thing is, I missed seeing my garden blooms. Nothing I really missed of course, but I am always certain I missed the perfect bloom.

Right now I cannot think of the name of this one, I got it as a bonus 2 years ago. Kay may remember the name. She told me I would like it, and I do. Nothing wrong with lots of buds and huge blooms

After 2 years Tonto's Expanding Headband finally bloomed. It bloomed before but scapes blasted both years had blooms were yukky. Looks ok, but not worth the wait.

Uncommon Valor

Thought I lost Shark Infested Waters, it is usually an early bloomer, but apparently I lost Blue Throated Hummingbird instead.

Thought I would go ahead and post a few seedlings, although mine are not impressive. None of these are new seedlings, I did not have any survive from last years planting

I have always liked this one, and its sibling which has not bloomed yet but looks very similar, more red on cream background. Much shorter than previous years.

So many to look at here! I am glad you enjoyed the convention but can relate to missing blooms! Isabelle Rose is impressive in this picture. Very nice. Womanizer clump is pretty as is Thundercat. Westbourne Wildfires is very bright. I like that first seedling-it looks like a proficient bloomer.

It sounds like you had a good time at the convention. Was Theresa Maris the third friend you are referencing? I know who the other two are. I hope you will post some photos from the tour gardens. You have a lot of nice pictures on this post. I think that photo of Discarded Beauty is the prettiest one I've ever seen of that flower. Womanizer, Isabelle Rose and Thundercat also caught my eye. Of the seedlings, the first is my favorite.

Theresa Maris was the 3rd friend with us. She was so busy in much of the show, and she was all over the place in the gardens taking pictures. A hard person to keep up with. If I can get a few pictures from her I will post those. She won runner up in one of the awards for an intro of hers. My brain was full of all the things going on, I cannot remember just which award it was. And she won one of the prizes in the hat competition. I did not stay for much after dinner, I was staying with my son at his house and he was driving me back and forth. I think the convention went well for the daylily society. A glitch here and there. The sad, sudden death of the owner of a garden we were to visit. Happened about a month ago. Many knew him there, I am too new to the club and don't think I have met him. The horrendous act on the hotel when they did not bring coffee to the breakfast the 1st morning. The angst and outrage! Me included! Food you can miss, but not coffee. It did show up finally, LOL. They did not make that mistake again.

I like Isabelle Rose as I don't have but a couple of near whites here. I like the balance of colors. Thundercat looks great. Lovely grouping of blooms. I'm sure you will be able to put away the hose soon. Glad to hear you enjoyed the convention.

I'm so happy for Theresa Maris that one of her intros won runner up in a category. I know she really worked hard for months before the convention too. I laughed about how you described The Great Coffee Glitch!

Westbourne Wildfires really stands out to me. Also like neon flamingo and Hint of Blue.

Thanks for all the info in this post, along with the multitude of pictures. I would be interested in which of Maris's cultivars won an award. And any tidbits on particular hybridizers--even who looked or acted differently from what you expected. Idoo Voodoo caught my attention. Yes, the one bad thing about visiting others' gardens is missing out on your own.
