Outside outlet box
This is an outdoor outlet in a very visible spot on our new addition. I am not happy with the design cosmetically, but also worry it also needs a drip edge on top? thoughts?

Here is a pic from further back. it is to the right of a side door entrance.

PRO3 years agoThat looks like an Arlington box, which is what I use and always recommend. They make a variety of models like the one shown in the image, and they are paintable.

Ok so it doesnt need trim or a drip edge around it?
With the correct box, installed correctly, no trim or drip edge needed.
I usually use ones that are horizontal and designed for retrofit (that's why the ones I show have holes for screws and yours does not), so they get placed after the siding and trim is in place. This way, the box gets placed so it looks the best and not some random location the electrician decided on.Painted the color of the siding, they blend in.
