Blooming on Tuesday

Bob and I didn't get as many photos today because today was the first big hybridizing day for us. Here are a few that we photographed.

Badenoch Jewel is a beauty and it's a strong vigorous plant to boot. This one comes from Dave Mussar in Canada.

If you like big flowers, here's one for you. This is Illinois Jacquet Flies Again.

When we ordered Indiana Melissa last year from Dan Hanson, we were afraid it might be tender. We put half in the greenhouse and planted the other half. It has done fine in the ground over winter.

I know I have posted Spacecoast Nails and Lipstick before but today is the first day I am liking it. The first buds were so small I thought we had received the wrong plant. I guess it just needs some heat to properly expand.

Generous Spirit had a nice pattern today (and a bug down in the throat).

Here is the Queen of the Garden today. This seedling, Gloria Kulpa X Unknown, is our daughter's. She bought the seeds at the Shirley Farmer meeting. The seeds came from John Kulpa.

I like the colors on this seedling. It is TrueNorth Eye in the Sky X Cherry Pie a la Mode.

We have been really thrilled with the seedlings from Hey Soul Sister X Snidely Whiplash. Some are just very dark and others are showing that smoky look that Hey Soul Sister sometimes gets.

Twiggy X Out of Balance is the Princess today.

The registered ones are nice, but the seedlings steal the show. I love the first three seedlings. My favorite is the Cherry Pie a la Mode kid. The other two are such nice, dark purples.

Badenoch Jewel ia a beauty and so is Spacecoast Nails and Lipstick but Indiana Melissa is my favorite of the regular ones. I really like your daughte's seedling, and the TrueNorth Eye in the Sky X Cherry Pie a la Mode. seedling is just gorgeous with the color and the edges. That is a diferent color for that anda I like it. I also am very fond of your TrueNorth Eye in the Sky X Cherry Pie a la Mode. seedling. Lovely color.

Certainly share your tastes today. Won't it be nice if the True North seedling has a good, reliable plant? And flower size of 6". Indiana Melissa seems short at 22". In my experience, Dan's plants in this color range are not vigorous growers. Earthly Treasures has it--"held for increase."

Hey Soul Sister X Snidely Whiplash is quite nice, great color and form. Indiana Melissa is very interesting. So is TrueNorth Eye in the Sky X Cherry Pie a la Mode..

Badenoch Jewel is a lovely bloom. I like your daughter’s seedling. Such a pretty color. For that readon I also like your Hey Soul Sister seedling-such rich color!
