Has Skin of My Teeth been a good parent for you? I know that its flowers are often splotchy, according to your reports. Yes, you have shown Angels S Softly often; it does look appealing.

Mantis - I've gotten three good seedlings out of Skin of My Teeth, and they are not nearly as splotchy as SOMT. Most years it's too hot here to set pods on it. I have gotten two good seeings out of the kid shown above.

Steven Scott Derrow is a lovely clump. I am very fond of Mr Mayor and like seeing such pretty groups of it. White Ambrosia is a lovely contrast to the darker ones. My favorite id your seedling

Kay and Kate - Thanks for the comments on the Skin of My Teeth seedling. It got hit hard by grubs and did not bloom at all last season. I was glad to see it again this year. The first year it bloomed, it had 26 inch scapes and 15 buds. This year it's 20 inches tall with 8-9 buds per scape. I hope it will return to its better stats next year. It has been valuable as a parent. I've had four seedlings bloom with it as a pollen parent, and three of them have pretty blooms.

Kate - Ha ha! Steven Scott Derrow does make a pretty little clump. Mantis says it performs better for him than Star Lord, so maybe it does better in the north. The blooms are small - barely more than 5 inches. It's registered as having 34 inch scapes, but the scapes in my garden are only 20-23 inches. It does multiply a bit better than Star Lord, but it doesn't set pods nearly as well as Star Lord. Maybe it's because SSD has a double dose of Mary's Baby in its parentage. Mary's Baby performed much like SSD here. Anyway, Star Lord has a permanent place in my garden, while Steven Scott Derrow does not. With encroaching shade, I only have about the half the space as I used to with enough sunlight to grow daylilies well.

Kay - I forgot to say how much I am enjoying White Ambrosia this year. The blooms are just gigantic. It has bud counts in the high teens, which this season is really saying something.

White Ambrosia is a favorite today…..good to hear its doing so well. Boundry Bound has an unusual throat, would be nice to see a bloom in person. More lovely clump shots today, great to see after the dry season

Sherry - Boundary Born has never looked like that before. The cool temps make the more ornate pattern. It's tender - maybe even too tender for here.

Julia - The mids and lates are better, but really almost everything has shorter scapes and fewer buds than ever. I've tried to take some garden shots, but they all came out horribly. If we could get an overcast day, I could do a better job. Since this is a hybridizing gardens rather than a display garden, I don't remove the mushies and there are tags everywhere.
