I think I need more info as to the actual structure issues . IMO a poor place for a FP so a bit more info please Post here in a comment DO NOT start another post.

They are taking out the entire brick structure and doing a complete rebuild. They are just not sure what to put back in it’s place. They have vaulted ceilings and the fireplace is on the low end of the ceiling.

It looks like that door leads to something outside, I would remove it and open the wall and replace with wall to wall patio doors or French doors, etc.

Are you guys working with a structural engineer? It might be a good idea to consult one if you haven't already. There are plenty of fireplace designs to look at, however, if redoing the entire fireplace there might be a better place for it.

So many styles to choose from. Can we see the rest of the room? From that but of recliner, it looks like you would need a rather than delicate fireplace.
