End of the Week Blooms

We had two rounds of storms yesterday, and one round this afternoon. I'm thrilled to get the rain, and luckily there was not any wind damage in my area. At least the thunderstorms have tamped down the temperatures.

Stone Palace Happy Go Lucky - This is a new one that just started blooming this past week. The bloom is huge!

Steven Scott Derrow - One of the reasons I bought this one was that it's supposed to have a patterned eye. This is the first pattern I've seen in three years. The pattern makes me like it a little more.

Arctic Lace orginally had two scapes that were only 7 and 10 inches tall. Now I've got some more scapes in the 20-inch range.

Blushing Escapade had such pretty ruffling on Friday.

Cobraskin Necktie

I'm Gonna Love You Through It is one of the slowest increasers I've grown. It sat at three fans for three years, then added a fourth fan this year. But its still only blooming on three fans.

Rainbow Maker has short scapes this time. A lot of the blooms are down in the foliage.

Here are a couple of first-time blooming seedlings. If they continue blooming at this time in the future, they will be lates.

Kiss of Paradise X Facemaker - I was surprised that two of the earliest bloomers here would throw a late. I was also surprised that the petal color was a lavender pink.

Click Bait X (Mayans' Dawn x The Ultimate Sacrifice) - Beautiful bright shade of red and nice white edge, but I wish it had a watermark.

Here's my older late blooming seedling, August Frost X Winter's Angel. It has the best bud count of any of my older ones. I can see at least 20 buds on three of the eight scapes. In the past, this one has bud built into the 40s.

Stone Palace Hapoy Go Lucky looks like it would be a big bloom. I told you Steven Scott Derrow wants to stay!!! Too bad I’m Gonna Love You Through It is a slow increaser-it’s so pretty. Blushing Escapade is putting up rebloom scapes now. It will rebloom at least one more time if it stays in its usual pattern. The August Frost seedling looks well budded.

Wow, Debra. Those pics are just beautiful to look at. But reading your post some disappointment in the lack of buds, scapes and in the foliage blooms. I think most of us are in the same boat. I do like your August Frost seedling. Hope the deer are staying away.

Stone Palace Happy Go Luck is awfully pretty. Shorter scapes and fewer buds was the tail for too many while others were wonderful this year. of course I like Click Bait X (Mayans' Dawn x The Ultimate Sacrifice) a pretty red, and August Frost X Winter's Angel. is a pretty white.

I've tried to leave comments two times today, and both times they disappeared. I hope this one sticks.

Kate - The first bloom on Stone Palace Happy Go Lucky was almost 8 inches. I was surprised to see such a big bloom on a small, one fan plant. Steven Scott Derrow is trying his best to win me over, and I think it is working! Bushing Escapade must be a rebloom machine for you. I've crossed it with two of my favorite pink seedlings and so far the pods are staying on them.

Julia - I would say 90 percent of my daylilies are suffering from few buds and short scapes this year. The other 10 percent are doing better than they have in years. I did see a two buds were nibbled by deer overnight. But only one was sampled in the back and one sampled in the front, so I guess they are tasting the Deer Out and refraining from further muncning. We've been through three rounds of thunderstorms since I last sprayed, and we're expecting more storms this evening. I'll do another round of spraying tomorrow.

Kay - I think I'm really going to like Stone Palace Happy Go Lucky. The petal color is bittersweet orange, and the huge watermark is yellow. I hope it will multiply fast because it would be so wonderful in a clump.

I am finding a few Evick intros looking good this year. I hope that Blushing works well in your pink line.

Mantis - The other Evick I have - Stone Palace Rejoice - is a good performer. I just don't like that shade of coral. I hope this new one will perform as well as Rejoice.

My favorite may be Stone Palace Happy Go Lucky, although I'm gonna Love You Thru it gives it competition. Shame it is a slow increaser. Your seedlings all look good. I do love that red one.

Your red seedling is very pretty as is with no other bells or whistles. The simple white edge is the kicker. Really don't care for reds with orange or yellow edges. Looking forward to progress reports on it as well as color/substance retention in high heat. Red is not my favorite color, but a good one like Acquire the Fire is hard to beat (mine's still blooming)..........Maryl
