it appears your white edge is melting out... perhaps a function of a huge hosta not having the requisite root mass its first summer..

should we presume you checked the back of the leaf for sucking insects??

as an SS hybrid.. you would think its rather bulletproof.. but again.. it might be a maturity thing..

increase water to avoid more loss of white tissue.. and probably ignore the dots... like you said.. never saw that before.. seems like there is some on a back leaf in pic 2.. can we rule out splashed dirt???

Thanks ken….. no sucking insects, thank God! It’s not dirt, doesn’t wash or rub off. I have been giving it lots of water, all my new sun tolerants…..

The spots are very slightly raised. New leaves look fine. This hosta has been shaded so far so it doesn’t completely burn. Here are a couple of other pics:

something bit the black spots from the back side.. you can see the indentation... if you cant find a bug to spray. then there is no good reason to react... there is some bug the southern folks will blame it on.. that i never saw up north.. weevils.. or some nonsense.. lol ..

last leaf pic.. looks like the oldest leaf .. and its going downhill fast.. probably remove it when it appears not to be able to process sunshine due to lack of chlorophyll..

am wondering if it is one of those fungal things that live in moist soil. Maybe nice wet weather just accommodated growth and spread of all bacterial and fungal stuff on my my tomatoes.

You can try removing worst leaf with black dots and spray copper fungicide?
