There has been a ton of discusion about how useless those type of hoods are. All accurate. They do not provide enough capture area, are very difficult to access to clean and maintain, and in general, are not for anyone who cooks.

Since you are remodeling, is there any possibility to remove the stove from the island to any exterior wall?

Island cooking is mostly designed pretty badly, and unsafely. No one seems to be conscious of how bad indoor air quality can become from cooking with a poor exhaust. Or how dirty the house becomes.

Since you are remodeling, now is the time to move that stove, so its not in an island. Leave the island bare, and have some nice lighting above it. Maybe even stools to sit on, on one side. That way, you can get a proper hood, that actually works.

Islands are difficult. You should move your range to a wall and install a proper hood and MUA.

If for some reason you can't then you need a large hood that overlaps your range by about 6" on all sides and is down fairly low.
