I think the thing to do is to bring various colors into the room that you basically like (raid the clothes closet!) and leave those things in the room for a day or two, including on the floor and on the mantle, so you see how they look in various lights, and how you feel about them. Then pick one, bring lots of only that color into the room, various objects/clothes, remove the rest. and if it is what you want, go with it (or start the process over).

My only other suggestion is to plan for adding several good-sized plants to the room. Plants have a way of "making everything go together" to the eye. When you are outside your eye appreciates a big variety of colors, and nothing looks "wrong." So by adding plants, the brain makes an adjustment and doesn't really notice your woods "clash" blah blah.

You have a lot of nice things, but I agree that it's bland right now. Can you post a pic with a wide view that includes the kitchen?

I agree about the clock, it's not adding anything to the space. Your light fixture looks too small, can you use that in another spot and replace it with something bigger? Lamps would also help break up all the horizontal lines in the room and make it look more inviting. And the different layers of light are more pleasant.

I'm guessing the gallery wall is family photos, I would put one large piece of colorful art in their place. Perhaps put them on the sofa table?

I’d consider a long, low white console for your TV, white wall mounted shelving above it on the right, and glass nesting coffee tables with a black base.

The clock has to go...... the gallery wall is too high, too many small pictures. Honestly? These have served their time, and read as clutter.. Pick three important photos in black and white, enlarge, and mat them substantially and hang vertically. Find art you love to replace the clock . Try a material OTHER than wood for the coffee table. Marble top, stone top glass etc. Add some standing lamps.

I know you said you can't change the paint color, but what about an accent wall? I had an open concept kitchen/ LR/ DR and I painted it 3 shades of the same color. The result was subtle yet added interest. Also there's the idea of placemaking within a larger floor plan (which your sectional couch does - it creates a sub-space) - and a colorful rug would add to this. The TV area is small enough that if you get a big carpet you may not even see your orangey floors in that area. It'll feel like a different sub area while still "going" with the rest of the space (obv the carpet should be in a coordinating color). I'm thinking something inviting and shaggy in big color blocks from West Elm (they have great sales! https://www.westelm.com/products/stacked-shags-rug-t6947/?pkey=call-rugs) IMO if you combine an accent wall with the recommendations from others, all of which i think are great, you'll achieve what you're looking for.

It looks like you already have a yellow pillow. Maybe look at adding some more yellow and blue accents to help liven up the space? You also might want to lower the gallery wall and maybe add some artwork with blue and yellow in it as well. See our designs included here for some more ideas:
