That is perfectly normal flushing of new summer growth. something JM's do from time to time. These summer growth spurts will have the same coloration as the first new leaves opening in spring. In a couple of weeks, you won't be able to tell them from the rest of the plant. Nothing at all to be concerned about.

If by "wilt" you mean Verticillium wilt, it looks and acts nothing like that.

Thank you!!!! Yes, I meant Verticillium Wilt. I sadly lost two shrubs this spring from this awful disease. I had read that a symptom can be change in leaf color. im so glad that is not the case here. Im not out of the woods though. One maple is down the hill about 10 ft from the shrubs and the other was right beside them.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about the VW spreading. It is a very opportunistic disease that can lie dormant for years before being triggered into activity by some sort of stress signal emitted by susceptible plants, either from physical damage (usually to the roots) or cultural concerns like droughts or extreme temperature swings. So VW can be very selective in its development, affecting and killing one susceptible species but leaving its equally susceptible neighbor untouched. I have seen this happen in both my garden and in client's gardens, where one plant contracts VW and dies but none of any susceptible species planted nearby are affected.

The primary concern with VW in the midst of other vulnerable plants is to avoid any damage to the roots of the unaffected plants. This may mean leaving the root system of the dead plant intact. And be sure to provide any necessary cultural care (good drainage, adequate water, etc.) It is also advised not to replant with a VW susceptible species where one has already died.
