Get something more muted that will enhance the wall and carpet colors. A nice soft sage green is a nice complement to your beige, taupe and wood tones.

That's a good idea. Sage does look good with wood. The other colours I was thinking of was something with a light blue/grey but definitely will consider a light sage.

It's tricky mixing warm tones and cool tones in a room. IMO the blue/gray is too cool for this space.

Select your drapes and duvet at the same time so you can coordinate them.

Yeah I'll just make the most out of it lol. No plans to repaint the room. We moved in 2 years ago and brought our furniture from our old place so I'll just do my best with what we have.

You might like searching the photos file for rooms with your wood tones ( dark cherry? dark mahogany) and similar carpet & paint colors, for inspiration.
Also do your searches for comforters -not focused on buying or price but see what’s displayed on similar furniture— Macy’s, Garnet Hill, lots of vendors, but just get some ideas about color schemes.

The sage is pretty but it’s shown with white furniture. I often think it’s good to have a bit of the furniture color , or a color in the same depth, in the bedding- in a print or stripe or in a decorative pillow.

Monochromatic is using all similar colors. All off whites or all grays etc. I suggest you go with all off whites. The trick with monochromatic schemes is to add plenty of textures. Bbl

Those could work. But you can mix so you could do smoother comforter and get pillows with texture. Either way. You could also “layer bedding for a welcoming look. Do a smooth duvet and put a textured throw folded at foot of bed across the bed.

I always think a white waffle weave duvet cover is timeless and will last a long time.  Adds texture to a neutral room.

You can pick pieces that suit your styles but the neutrals with your dark wood sleigh bed is a great look. A larger lamp is important. And/or a plug in wall sconce for other side of bed would balance things out. 😊

Wow thank you so much everyone. Looks like I'll start shopping for creams/off-white. The chandelier looks so beautiful. I'm putting money towards the things like the cover etc and a nursery for our first baby in November but maybe down the line I'll consider the chandelier.

Hey all! So I ordered a white/off-white duvet cover just to see how it would look. Please note that the bed is not made properly. I just put it casually on top to see the color. What do you think? We had blackout roman shades installed a few weeks ago and I think it looks too stark. Maybe I'll need to get some curtains too so it softens up the room?

The white looks great, it freshens and brightens up the room!!!  I like the roman shades too. Curtains will help soften it up.  I'd do white curtains too, like in a soft linen with texture.

I like the Roman shades. But too much light coming in sides for my tastes so panels either side in black out style will temper that. As to duvet, I think you need whiter and textured surface. I have had a sleigh style bed and I much preferred a light weight comforter to a duvet. Makes making bed so much easier.

Oh I prefer a comforter too for sure. The only reason I switched to duvet was because it was more cost effective being able to take the cover and wash at home as opposed to bringing a comforter to the laundromat! Lol

It is textured I believe. Maybe not enough? Lol

I understand but a light weight comforter can go in washer too. But a choice for sure. I see it is whiter than photos first show. But more texture would be desirable.

However a nice fluffy throw and a couple fluffy pillows could be enough too and meet both needs. Hang on to that duvet. It looks really nice.

I decided to try out some more duvet covers and there's one I love! It's got a fluffier texture compared to the other two I bought which are a lot flatter in material.

Love it! Perfect. Better choice I think.
