More Before Boredom Sets In

last modified: 3 years ago

Here is another tranche of processed photos. No rhyme or reason to the selection.

The King is Coming --still has a place in the garden with rich color

Contributing Editor

Logically Implied --not as good as last year

Free to Dance has looked so good this year (Korth)

Voila Francois must have liked the winter

It is, unfortunately, a season of generally drab blooms, many smallish and many splotched with all the humidity. Right now, it is a prime example of why many, including me, are not thrilled with later bloomers. It am tired of subpar blooms. Earlier bud count was low, but at least the blooms were still fresh and often vibrant.

Blue Healer (Korth)

Byzantine Dagger (a new one in a pot). Pots get watered and fertilized regularly. Of course, there is plenty of moisture in the ground now. It's just late season blahs.

Carrick Wildon (will get more sun now with the lost limb)

She's Like a Rainbow (same color as last year)

Flying Trapeze

Joy Came Down

Victoria Josephine (since Debra likes this one)

Electric Ladyland (looking electric)

Ruby Grandeur

Party Pants

Here's another of Every Knee Shall Bow.

Vanilla Gorilla

I guess, done.

Oh, here's Memorial to Steve on the desktop.

    MANTIS,

I like CONTRIBUTING EDITOR. It certainly is unusual. The petal color looks a little muddy to me, but I like the pattern of the eyezone.

FREE TO DANCE is certainly up my alley. Love the contrast of the edge and the petal.

SHE'S LIKE A RAINBOW has been on my list since its intro. I have had the opportunity to see it in person for at least the past two years in a friend's garden in York PA. I haven't been able to talk him out of piece of it yet. There is always this year.

JOY CAME DOWN and EVERY KNEE SHALL BOW appear to be winners as well.

The King is Coming does have rich color. Carrick Wildon and Vanilla Gorilla are scape no shows for me this year. Every Knee Shall Bow appears to have a nice showy edge. Others that caught my eye were Electric Ladyland, Joy Came Down and Victoria Josephine.

Thanks for posting the sun shot of Victoria Josephine! I do like that one. Others that caught my eye were Joy Came Down and Electric Ladyland. How is the performance on those? Blue Healer looks good. I bought it last year, and then let it soak so long it developed rot in the heat.

Joy and Electric are both good growers, with good height. Blue Healer is nice, though a somewhat plain bloom. Seems to grow well. Rot can be a problem in this weather. Just this morning I discovered rot on a new shoot of an expensive cultivar. Contributing Editor--yes, a grayish color, but such a clear pencil eyezone. My tastes are broad, but I suspect it is not a best seller.

Vanilla didn't do a lot this year. It had a lot of company. Every Knee--very elaborate edge. Logically Implied looked very good this morning.

I do absolutely love The King is Coming. Rich color and wonderful style.

I too really like Victoria Josephine and Logically Implied. Great color and style for both.

Memorial to Steve is nice too. All in all a great group of blooms.

All looking great! I like Free to Dance such a pretty edge. Byzantine Dagger is very interesting, love this look. Very pretty trios of Joy Came Down and Party Pants. Niiice edge on Every Knee. Does it open well? And my favorite here are Voila Francois and Victoria Josephine.

I like Party Pants, have found a liking for the white midrib. I like the shape. I l8ke the simplicity of Vanilla Gorilla…..reminds me of Simplicity in Motion. I’m guessing VG is bigger. I like Victoria Josephine too, it’s a bit different.

If I could change the name to Party 'Plants', I'd like that one even more.......Ruby Grandeur always looks so good in pictures. I think I may have that one coming next spring. I hope I like that red in person and that it holds well in our climate. But that's why I trial them......I like Electric Lady Land too. I looked at it years ago and if I remember correctly read that it had some problems growing/blooming. Can't remember specifics. How's it do for you?..............Voila Francois' form never ceases to impress me. Wish it was a different color though.............Maryl

Vanilla about same size as Gorilla here. Electric Ladyland is a very good grower. Voila here is marginal.

I like your new one, Byzantine Dagger. Victoria Josephine is just a beautiful thing. Mantis, no one could get tired of your wonderful photos. I envy the brighter colors you get. Carrick Wildon is never so intense here, but I notice it has put up a rebloom scape...trying to make up, I guess.

Kay, it is a challenge to take pics in the sun, and many pics taken have to be deleted. Carrick is always a bright one here. But your sun is more intense.
