2023 FFE seedlings

Again had several new seedlings! We had a hail storm at the end of June with lots of bud and scape damage, and some had their scapes broken off completely. Including Soli Deo Gloria.. Poor thing barely survives here and blooms every other year. It was supposed to be that "other year" but it received a direct hit. However the one seedling I have from it is Monstrous!

Anyway, these were planted 2020-2021 before I got sick. Last year I only managed to grow 3 seedlings, of which only one came up after winter, too small to bloom.

I'm gonna attempt to post them all but if not at least some.

#1 - long looooong wait for this

Heartbeat of Heaven x Stranger in a Strange Land, 26

Good, because the reverse cross was weird, and disappeared after couple years

#2 - this is a hail victim, only one tiny developing bud was spared, but then the plant formed 4 more - a true 5 bud wonder

But.. ordinary, 31 5.25

#3 - late purple seedling x Soli Deo Gloria

the latest to bloom, of seedlings and all other daylilies, short but crowded by the aforementioned huge Soli's seedling, 12b

Couple crosses of red seedlings

#4 - plain..

#5 - pollen parent Soul on Fire, looks like Soul on Fire

#6 - light orange seedling that nobody likes but me X Yellow Titan, 38

#7 - a cross of dusty pink watermarked siblings, med height 4.5 dia but all from that cross have instant rebloom, not sure what to think

#8 - red-pink seedling x Heartbeat of Heaven, bigger flower, 18b - the best budded of new ones

#9 - Kayleigh Cobb x American Doll, 30

old-fashioned, sigh..

The rest are out of All Things To All Men (ATTAM)

Mostly with my purple and pink seedlings

#10 - the most anticipated because the pod parent is still my favorite seedling here, 28 6 16b; does not have a consistent look, darker / lighter, watermark more pronounced or less, bigger or like a small band, this is my favorite look

#11 - this one is in a pot still

#12 - with the late blooming purple sdlg 35 5.5 or 6? Not its best pic

#13 - another one 31 5.25 this doesn't open flat but maybe location

#14 - one more with a red sdlg

something happened to my camera it's about impossible to get a clear close up anymore

#15 - another one, I said Ah finally, pink! med height 5 dia

    #16 - and another one 28 5.5 very recurved, maybe 6, 16b

can't resist, love this pic of it

However the edge is too big for my climate so it tangles sometimes ((

    #17 - and one more 36 5.5

#18 - the last one is Decadence x ATTAM

was the biggest of the group after 1st winter, almost died after 2nd winter but sent a couple side shoots up and even a tiny scape with 2 buds

#19 well for the complete 'collection' here's one from last year

another late purple seedling x ATTAM

it has very recurved sepals so the flower looks a bit strange, also changes looks, this is my preferred with very light watermark and blue-ish outline

    Ok that's it.

    Thanks for looking!!

Does anybody see the 2nd part? I do now, but not after I posted..

Thanks Kay! I am glad I didn't remove that #1 seedling, it was planted in 2016!

Thanks Sherry! I wasn't clear, #6 is yellow, it's pod parent is orange (orange x yellow = yellow)

Beautiful seedlings! It's hard to pick favorites, but I really like #1, 2, 18, and 19.

The first Heartbeat seedling certainly has good color. It looks as though you have a lot of bridge plant keepers. I hope you don't have long Covid.

Very nice group of seedlings. My favorite two are 3 & 13 [great form and color]. Others that strike me are 11, 12, 16 [second pic] and 17.

Nat, I do like your seedlings!!! I had to scroll back and forth to pick favorites as the picks kept changing! I think my favs right this minute are #1 (love the edge), 3,5,13, 16, 17, 19. A lot of nice ones. I am favoring the purples, it would appear!! Good job!

You have a lot of nice first-time bloomers. My top favorite is #19. I like the blue eyezone, the petal color, the white edging, and the lighter sepals. All of your purples are nice, but Number 17 is my favorite. I like the bluish purple watermark, the petal color and the double edge. Number 5 is my kind of red - round, with a watermark and ruffled outlined edge. I like 15 and 17 because of the colors and the white edges and the watermarks. Numbers 1 and 8 are appealing too. A very nice group of seedlings!
