Flooring Design Dilemma

Patching hardwood flooring ideas

We took out a closet in our guest room and don't have the original brazilian cherry flooring to patch it and we don't want to replace the floor or carpet over it. We will have a rug and two chairs in that space going forward, but still want to patch it so it looks good.

I was thinking of a contrasting wood or doing an inlay somehow? Has anyone done this - even with a tile border? any ideas?

Take a look at these samples of Brazilian Cherry peel and stick flooring. I bet you might see the color of your floor. Use that and a rug, it might look original.
