Unfortunately I don't think end to end piecing works well. I think you are going to have to remove the entire drop and replace it. At least it's new so it will match, it hasn't changed color.

If this were a highly textured grasscloth, maybe, in a pinch, but this is a refined looking paper. Since you bought some recently maybe they will be flexible about yardage.

Thanks, palimpsest. I do have some paper left, I’m just not sure if it’ll be enough for 2 1/2 drops…..I was hoping it could be cleaned, but it’s not looking good so far. If we need to piece, maybe behind the TV? Much will be hidden……

Shang? Windward? No idea…..but you’re right, the paper in our bedroom is more “stripey” and less fine than this.

I am thinking this is Windward pattern, the Shang is a little more textured. I am a wallpaper nerd, for a while I recognized a lot of Thibaut and Phillip Jeffries patterns because I sampled dozens and dozens of wallcoverings for my own house.

I see…..I just don’t remember, and there is nothing marked on the back. It is a very fine texture, very, very thin grass strips (if at all?) and then the vertical linen stitching.

Have you tried a regular white eraser on the pencil marks?

You would not have to do full drops behind the built ins? I don't know how high your ceilings are and such. Are the cabinets 32" high?

Maybe an art gum erasure, but I fear that the threads will get pulled from the backing from the motion of the erasure if you go in one direction, and you will potentially pull the grass if you go the other. You will have to go diagonally and gently, I and I think that a lot of graphite is going to stay buried in the texture.

I know I am not being very optimistic, but these papers are kinda delicate. My grasscloth trapped drywall dust from drilling a couple small holes (It's federal blue) and it took forever to get rid of the white dust. I tried dabbing it with a damp paper towel and it took some of the color off. Yours is natural so it will be a little more forgiving but I think you are going to end up with a grey smudge.

Chispa, yes, I have…..the graphite line is quite thick (installer used a soft pencil), and esp. vertical marks and numbers won’t come off. I will keep trying, but I’m not hopeful cleaning is the way to go. My interior design store (who ordered this for me) has an email out to Thibaut…..maybe they have a good idea. 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Cabs with tops will be about 32” tall; shorter than reg kitchen cabs, but we’re matching the existing cabs on the left of FP (which is why the installer made this mistake in the first place!). We have 10’ ceilings, so we’d still need 7’ x3…..not sure we have that much.

I would get the softest white eraser from an art store. Barring that yes I think a wallpaper person could remove a segment full width and replace it successfully.

Thank you all….I know there is no easy solution here! I gave tried a soft, white eraser, but honestly it’s not doing much. My installer’s red pencil eraser worked better, but left a pink hue; maybe use it first, then clean that up with the white one? Idk….I do have 2 drops of wallpaper, if I start behind the floating shelf and go just below the counter top. but the last 1/2 width drop i would need to piece together. My wallpaper guy is a bit unsure (we have very few up here in our neck of the woods, and they are all BUSY)….he says he might need to double up, overlap the pieces….not sure I like that. Anyway, i think we can get it fixed….

I can’t imagine overlapping would work. I’ve always cut out the damaged sections along the grain with a very sharp knife and filled it in. Mine was more textured but I’m sure an actual trained person would have no problem with yours.

Hallett, I agree! I will do my best to convince him to cut the sections carefully, then fill in, no overlapping. (This is why I want to go all the way up to the floating shelf….the cuts can be hidden behind it.) I know this guy is probably not the most experienced paper hanger, but it’s really slim pickings in our area. He did 3 different rooms in our house earlier this year, and they look good…incl. the now messed up wall.😭 Our cabinet installer keeps talking about “cleaning the wallpaper with a Q-tip and a cleaning solution”, but I don’t see that working at all. Wish me luck!
