Entryway piece

Would this piece be a good fit for the long wall in my foyer? I’ve been struggling to furnish it for almost 2 years, but now that the adjoining living room is done I think I’m getting closer (anyone who’s seen my frequent previous posts knows i’ve been all over the map)! Dimensions for the blue piece are marked in tape, and i know I’d need a different rug and mirror. Open to other suggestions too if you have a perfect piece in mind!

I looked up a better picture of it to see how blue it is, and thought it might be good to post it because I didn't realize from your photo that it has "cut-outs". I thought it was a solid piece.

Do you know what you would be putting on the shelves inside? I've stopped buying furniture pieces that mean I will need to find 6 to 10 nice objects to display on them to make them look nice. THere is also a danger that a cabinet like this becomes a convenient catch-all for putting things inside, but it ends up looking messy in your entryway.

I don't think a round mirror would go well over this blue cabinet. The cabinet isn't too big for your entry but I am wondering if something more muted, with closed doors, would go better with all your other decor.

Either of these appeal to you? (My feelings won't be hurt if you say no!) They are from Raymour & Flanagan, and they are about $200 more than your choice

I do like the first one! i cant do anything flat on the ground because of a vent. The doors on the blue piece have an insert that close the openings off, like in the pic i posted, which i’d definitely use!

Ah! I understand now. Okay -- up to you!

IMO that piece does nor belong in an entry it is a DR piece, entries need little storage add a great piece of art above the one you have and if anything an entry needs a place to sit so if ne is what you want then get a console where 2 ottomans can sit underneath and still add the art.

Patricia, do you think the current piece is an ok color/style/size? It’s a little smaller and cooler-toned than i envisioned, though i could put a plant and basket or something on either side. There is a matching 48x70 cabinet i could put across the way to hide shoes, etc. and then i could put a chair in the stair corner and/or the ottomans under the console as you suggested. I just wasnt sure if the wood tone was too different than the redder shades throughout the rest of my house (a la the floors and ottoman in LR)

you have a perfect entryway. I think you can do a bit better?

similar set up. I would exchange you mirror for a large piece of art, a nice chandy. the wainscot is a nice touch

This is a nice blue. I like the taller mirror since you have such high ceilings

or, do a vintage painted white piece w/blue accents

this is the size round mirror you need for this spot. yours is too small

    Two diff wall treatment ideas

you could go w/more natural tones to play of the other blue and leather tones

    World market has this one

    What about this spot?

The wall is 107” long… what would the ideal size console be?

hopler, I think what you have taped out is a good width. did you see any of the pictures I posted above?

Beth, i did, thank you! i love the one from world market- it’s the perfect dimensions. ive seen it before but assumed color was wrong since i only otherwise have darker woods. would you paint it or leave as is? it goes ok with the railing? a lot of our other furniture is more mission/craftsman style, does that matter?

the entryway is pretty much it's own area. and if you style it like that have shown, the wood itself will fade into the background. with your darker wood floors, I think the natural wood color is nice. but you could always throw on some chalk paint or Gen finishes 'milk paint' if you want a diff color.

definitely considering that, then! I also found this john thomas option at one of our local furniture stores… would you go with navy? walnut like the floor stain?
