Considering kitchen updates without gutting the kitchen - ideas?

Thinking about painting cabinets white and changing backsplash to a subway tile. Would love advice on possible updates!

A white kitchen is timeless however there are several issues to consider: there are many different types of whites, and I am a huge fan of respecting the style of the exterior of the house to the interior. Also, the kitchen does not exist in a vacuum. Please consider the color and style of the remainder of the interior of the home as well. All other surfaces and colors need to be considered - the floor, the ceiling, the counters. Looking forward to seeing pictures. Instead of putting in a subway tile backsplash, how about putting in a subway tile removable wallpaper so you can see what it looks like without installing it?

When you upload photos, give them time to turn from greyed-out to full-color before you submit.
