Hi! I moved into a rental and now have a very old and very ugly range, although it certainly works well and appears to be a decent / potentially commercial older brand? (DCS)
I have no idea what this is called, but the grates are integrated with the stove top. To remove the grates to clean I have to remove the entire stove top, although it is split in two pieces.
This is presenting some cleaning challenges! I took half off and let it sit with a baking soda paste overnight then washed it with vinegar then scrubbed with steel wool... But it still looks like this (right hand is "clean", left hand is not).
Any advice on the best way to clean something so heavy and cumbersome? Alternatively, any ideas for how to just hide it? Like it occurred to me I have an enormous cutting board that I could just leave on the stovetop while it's not in use, but the pilot lights are in the stove top not in the oven so it does not seem safe!
My sincere hope is that it breaks and I can force the owner to replace it but until then, looking for any advice! Thank you!
