If you start the seeds inside, I am just curious as to when you get your first flowers?

Dee what is your favorite variety? My Cosmos has been reseeding for years and it became inferior. More foliage than anything else and paper thin petals that dried up before the end of the first day they opened. I bought some seed last year and didn't like the result of that either. My favorites usually are the Picotees or the large pure white. I'm not a big fan of the doubles.

Cosmos is such a happy flower! I always smile when I see them.

I winter sow mine (I winter sow everything). It is a bit of a late bloomer - maybe July? - before it really gets going but it goes well into October.

PM2 it's hard to pick one favorite lol! I think I'd have to say I like the newer Cupcakes/Cups and Saucers. They're so beautiful. I also grew Apricot Lemonade starting two years ago and really like them. The colors are always changing. Seashells are cool too - a bit different.

Dee, I love those two favorites of yours! I saw both of those in the catalogs, the Apricot Lemonade and the Cupcakes and glad to know they worked so well for you. I'm going to give them a try. I love that pink cupcake that has the edge that looks like someone took a Pinking Shear to it...lol. And your photo of Apricot Lemonade is prettier than the catalog photos I've seen. Where did you get your seed for those two?

Thanks, PM2! I got the Apricot Lemonade from Select Seeds and the Cupcakes from Pinetree. Those two companies, as well as Johnny's, are my go-to. I like Johnny's but they have been getting rather expensive. Select Seeds isn't exactly cheap either but they are here in CT so I like to support them, and I like their "mission", so to speak. Pinetree is much less expensive and good for smaller amounts of seeds, although their selection isn't as wide. Swallowtail is good too, IMO.

I love that "pinking shear" look too!
