Traditional oil stains will look muddy, if, you are looking for a light cool color. Use a reactive stain instead. It will look more natural.

None in that deck, that much is certain. Those are indeed "gawd awful" and your eight year old is correct. No to gray.

If the floor is classic red oak? Sand it, water pop it, and use a browner stain. You will not get to the look of a pale white oak floor board/no pink.

I wouldn’t recommend gray flooring of any type, especially hardwood. The gray flooring trend has passed. I don’t know what your floors look like now, but they are probably more timeless than the samples you show above. Also, those stains say “shown on white oak.” Do you have white oak? Sounds like you may have red oak - that’s most likely - although Brazilian cherry is very red also.

Think about your home’s color palette and the style you’re going for. In general, a wood floor that looks like natural wood is timeless and works with just about any decor. Gray looks unnatural and will make it more difficult to decorate around.

If your refinisher uses Bona, you can try Bona Red Out to help reduce the reds and get a look that is closer to white oak.

I happen to love gray but not any of those for sure . Trust your daughter on this one. Talk to the floor refinisher get some samples done and unless you trully always gravitate to cooler colors alwyas gray probably not a good choice . Waht wood is the floor? That will be ahuge factor in what will be the best stain.

None of those. What you have is probably back in style, because it's timeless! Warm golds and reds are taking over the social media.

Gray wood was never ever a good idea. It is so unnatural looking. Wood that looks like wood will never be out of style.

Looks like red oak? also those stains are shown on white oak. grays looks even worse on red oak. trust me i learned the hard way. went with a darker brown tone.
